Summer Love It’s a drag When it’s over I want it back Fall is here Bittersweet How can I stand on my own 2 feet You went away It feel apart You lost yourself and I lost my heart I came back Nothing’s the same Only the shit Only the pain I’m your rock but I’m sinking down Never do like to touch the ground It’s not nice without you It’s not nice without you Chocolate bunny with a gaping hole Drive-by hug you’ve got to go You see me cross against the light Drive by hug another fight Once and a while you shake the globe Flurries settle and I’m snowed

Firewall 04:37
Starts with a rip or maybe a match chip it away It's never coming back Run in a stocking a rip in a seam Up in smoke there goes his dream Gasoline on a lump of coal toss a match and you're ready to roll raises up. She fans the fire. she fans the flames it gets much higher the smoke starts to make her ache but it still doesn't penetrate can't break down can't break down can't break down that firewall In the middle of the night at the stoplight I gave a command for you to hold my hand I thought we started but I don't know You went to bed clutching to that Holy Thread I've been hoping you were joking when you said it wasn't better than smoking Back on task I had to ask was it fun or just too fast is there something that will break the code starts to smolder and you let it burn can't break down can't break down can't break down that firewall I've been hoping you were joking when you said it wasn't better than smoking

Driving sideways down the streets of Austin. Helping you out.Just a nice guy. Occupied with other things on my mind. Different ways of talking. Different ways of getting to the same place. Wanted to know where we were going to. I didn't need to know how to get to you. Following instructions, getting directions. Don't tell me how to get us there. Backseat driving with a glimpse of friendship Meet me at the bar tonight Southern traveler, at Bouldin take a right. Wanted to know where we were going to. I didn't need to know how to get to you. Following instructions, getting directions. Don't tell me how to get us there. oohs. Wanted to know where we were going to. I didn't need to know how to get to you. Following instructions, getting directions. Don't tell me how to get us there. oohs.

A thousand phone calls Not a one A thousand letters Then there's none A thousand reasons A thousand wrongs I'm speeding by 1000 Palms Octotillo, Joshua Tree Tall Saguaro, Then theres me. Mostly thirtsy, deep down roots When the rain comes, such pretty blooms I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfirend but it's not all bad. Watching TV in the bed Watching you sleep almost dead Second language. Secret code Talk a blue streak. Overload Up and dancing alone and close Morphine blasting. Get off my toes. I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfirend but it's not all bad. Three day stubble. Cigarettes. Brown outfit. Teacher dress. Squishy sandwich. PBJ. The voice of reason keeps going away. Strawberries. Mango mouth. 40 Cherries and I pass out. I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfriend I'm not your Girlfriend Girlfirend but it's not all bad.

Lightening struck me twice in the same spot and I lived to tell the tale. Caught up in my own prison. Someone came to pay my bail. Phoenix rising up from the ashes. Giving me a second chance. I was touched by the hand of country. Lifting me up to dance. Coming back home on the backroads I stopped to dig up plants filled with local color purple cactus stickers in my hands Stickers grew into pears and the pears grew blooms I was touched by the hand of country not a minute to soon

I feel down a high flight of stairs that led to the sky.

about

From crunchy grunge-y pop to Americana, this is probably my most confessional album. A lot of the songs are about impulses and emotional turmoil but there are some sweet songs too like "Hand of Country" and "Getting Directions"
